Emails!

I emailed a professor to find even more research on Nelson Mandela. Her name is Prof Abosede George, basically I was asking for her insight on the significance of Nelson Mandela and his actions to the South African people. I am very curious to see her reply and her view on the situation. This is very exciting! Fingers crossed she replies because I am so interested to hear from her!

Books!

I have borrowed two very informational books about Nelson Mandela. One is his popular book "Long walk to freedom" which is the autobiography of Nelson Mandela. There is also the book "Treeshaker, the story of Nelson Mandela." These two books have detail and depth of the story of Nelson Mandela and his goals to change and help South Africa. They include apartheid, Robben Island University, Road to Power, becoming a president and much more!

Film on Mandela

I have watched a film about Nelson Mandela and his imprisonment, the film is called "Mandela & De Klerk." The film included much detail about the 27 years of Nelson Mandela's life spent in jail. I have learnt and have a larger understanding of what Nelson was fighting for alongside with his wife Winnie and the president at the time De Klerk. Mandela fought for what he believed was right and was supported by many South Africans, he never gave up. This led to the many achievements of reaching the goal of ending the apartheid and becoming the first black President of South Africa.

Researching

Thoroughly doing more research on Nelson Mandela, finding some very interesting information about the apartheid in South Africa and the changes that Nelson Mandela fought to overcome. I was quite surprised when I read how Nelson Mandela was willing to fight physically for equality. "...I said that violence was the only weapon that would destroy apartheid and we must be prepared, in the near future, to use that weapon." Quoted from Nelson Mandela in his book Long Walk to Freedom. Well I'm only going to discover more interesting and unexpected facts and ideas about Nelson Mandela... looking forward to it!
